Kingston JAM - Reigning 400m silver medallist and world leader, Sonita Sutherland, heads Jamaica's team to the 11th IAAF World Junior Championships in Beijing, China.
Sutherland, who leads the event with a personal best 51.13, is the favourite for the 400m. She also has the three next fastest times - 51.23, 51.30, and 51.37.
Sutherland's teammate Kaliese Spencer (51.56) is the next best over the one lap event, but will only run the 400m Hurdles, an event she will enter as the second fastest with 55.61 seconds.
Remaldo Rose, the second fastest in the 100m this season and 400m hurdler Sherene Pinnock, who both collected bronze in Grosseto, are also included in the 29-member squad.
World Youth 100m Hurdles silver medallist Natasha Ruddock and Schillonie Calvert, the 100m bronze medallist from the World Youth, should add more power to the Jamaican team.
Also in the squad are Edino Steele, who is the third fastest junior over 400m this season with 45.81 and Josef Robertson who is ranked number two in the 400m Hurdles with a personal best and national junior record of 50.24.
